Support » Fixing WordPress » have_posts() returns false in copy of WP site

  • Resolved ccstump

I’m trying to replicate a client’s WP site on my Mac for local development. I’ve been successful in getting the site running, but for some unknown reason posts are not showing up. When I go to edit posts in the control panel there is an accurate count of the number of posts present, but I get a message saying “No posts found.” Similarly, have_posts() returns false in the WP loop. Posts are present, however, in the wp_posts table, and if I try exporting the posts from the live site and importing them on the development site the import tells me “post already exists” for every object.

WP is aware of the posts, but can’t find them for display. Why is that? I’m using an exact copy of the live DB and WP. The only difference between the two are updates to paths in the DB so that WP runs local.

I’ve done this before without a problem. I’m not sure what is different now or where to start looking to fix. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
