Support » Plugin: Compare Products for WooCommerce » Have to re-enter all of the attribute info

  • I cannot figure out WHY I would want to re-enter attributes for all of my products specifically for product comparison. Maybe this plugin is designed for people that haven’t entered all of their product attributes yet. Even so, why not just use the product attributes fields that are already incorporated into WooCommerce? The fields and the information is ALREADY THERE in the attribute! Why duplicate it? Why can’t the plugin just use that information?

I realize this may be a function of the paid version. I’ve asked in a previous thread (never answered) and I checked the documentation on the paid version but didn’t see it. From what I can see, it looks like the paid version works just like the free version…go into each one of your products and repeat the information from your attributes. Hmmph.

Wish they had 0 stars rating, then again, it probably works fine if you don’t mind re-entering all of the product attributes you already entered.

You know if you where to ask nicely I’d tell you how to do it – even on the Free lite version – but as you have given us a one star rating I won’t

I really don’t understand why people ask questions here & give bad rating here… Can’t they see the support forum?
To be frank, I think, surely they are not any kinds of developers.
They don’t know what it takes for a developer to be here.
A developer needs lots of time to develop a plugin. & don’t forget to calculate the time it takes to approve it in WP respiratory.
& after this hard work, when you see someone just come & give bad rating… I really don’t know how worst it feels, because I am not a Plugin Author till now. But, in my way of trying I am finding how tough it is.
I think, WP should give a way here to find a way to remove these kinds of ratings…may be a way to complain the moderators…

Apparently not. There is a real undercurrent of people who seem to think that they can somehow coerce an author by giving a 1 star review. Fortunately that’s really a minority here. 😉

Hey! Wow! Thanks for all of the responses! Very cool how this works!

Apparently you did not read my review. I did write to the support forum: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/dont-understand-why-i-have-to-enter-attributes-twice?replies=1. That was after reviewing the author’s instructions many times and spending several hours trying to get the plugin to work in a way that seemed helpful.

In my question on the forum I was very happy to pay for an upgrade if that’s what it took to get the issue resolved, but, indeed, the question has still not been responded to…after 7 months. It’s not like there are a million support threads to resolve…I found mine on the first page. And if there is another support forum that is referenced anywhere in the plugin notes, I’m sure I asked the same question there as well.

To be frank, I think, surely they are not any kinds of developers.

You’re right, I am not any “kinds” of developer. If I was a developer, I’d write my own code. Originally, I was a user trying to find out how the plugin works. Then I became a user telling others about my experience.

There is a real undercurrent of people who seem to think that they can somehow coerce an author by giving a 1 star review.

Are there really people out there that think that? How sad.

I absolutely was not trying to get the developer to respond. I seriously was trying to help anyone else who was thinking about using the plugin. Since my support question was not answered, I had no other information than to believe that that’s how the plugin worked, so, 1 star. If that’s the way it works, it’s no good to me, I’ll tell others so that they don’t waste their time.

Funny though, by getting all of these responses from my 1 star review and not to my support thread, maybe you really can only get responses by posting a 1 star review, though of course, they have not been helpful to answer my question.

    And Steve Truman:

I did ask nicely: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/dont-understand-why-i-have-to-enter-attributes-twice?replies=1. Well, I thought it was nicely. :-\ Was I really rude? I suppose I could have sugar coated it a little more. But I had spent a lot of time at that point trying to get it to work and I couldn’t find a way to do it.

Had my support question been answered, I never would have given 1 star because maybe I would have understood how to make the plugin work. It looked to me like a pretty cool plugin…as I said in my original support forum post.

but as you have given us a one star rating I won’t

Really? What a great way to solve a problem. I’m sure it is just a reflection of your entire life and I am sad for you.

Out of 17 reviews, 7 give 1 star. 40%. Am I really so out of line? And why, out of the 6 other 1 star reviews, am I the only one that you responded to? Weird. If it were me, I would rather respond to the people that said it broke their site as it’s probably just a conflict with another plugin and just answer my original question about how to make it work.

    Best of luck.
