• Hi all,

My analytics are showing strange link pages on my site which i do not have on my site: for example one is:

    /h/10083559.html

    and the other is:

    /23507/justaplatform.com/04c1aad745d82a5ec7678e02cc1ccc18.html?_time=1547805173151&highlight=theculturetrip.com&alt_domains=["http://www.theculturetrip.com","https://www.theculturetrip.com","http://theculturetrip.com","https://theculturetrip.com","//www.theculturetrip.com","//theculturetrip.com"]&highlight_links=1

My analytics are now showing 0 time spend on pages on the avg.time on page

Anyone know why this and what to do about it?

    Thanks a lot.
    Sav

They are “ghost pages”. I’m unsure what they are supposed to accomplish. I suspect to annoy you enough to coerce you into visiting the link in an attempt to figure out what’s going on. Once there, you are served ads which generate revenue. Ads at a minimum, even worse, such sites could be malicious and they could attempt to get malicious code executed on your computer. Never visit these sites!

How do these pages get there? Your UA number and analytics code is freely available. There is little stopping others from using your UA on their server, and calling analytics functions as though executed by users of your site.

You can prevent this by filtering what GA logs. Add a custom inclusion filter for hostnames. In the Filter Pattern field, enter a regexp for all valid host domains for your site. This way, spurious calls to GA from other servers using your UA will never be logged.
