Some 2.9, some 3.01..in other words various flavours.

I use or at least used to use the Twitme plugin to post from blog to twitter. Worked fine.

Noticed that the installation for twitme changed, and now it no longer connects (another post viewed here)
It save the info, when you save it, but that’s it.
    This was a simple plugin

So no response from author, just a bunch of other people with the same problem.

Moved on to another twitter plugin, TwitPost
Same deal here, Can’t authenticate…yada yada.

Tried a few others, and having the same problem.

Has twitter somehow made some changes in how plugins are working with them? Hard to find out who’s side this is on, and even more annoying not getting any answers from the developers when posting problems about their plugins.

I don’t want to use a small url, or place code into my blogs, I don’t want to use cig.ly, or bit.ly and have to sign up for yet another “keycode” in order for it to work.

All I want is to post to the blog or have others post to the blog and in turn have that sent up to twitter…

Is it really too much to ask?

I know the developers of the plugins, work very hard, and I’m very appreciative of this fact, but I’m not a coder by any means, and just want simple as opposed to “enter this code here, or place this between this <div and that div, or register for your new keycode…yada yada yada).

    Yes I’m frustrated

Twitter announced way back in December of 2009 that they would discontinue Basic Auth in favor of OAuth on August 16, 2010.

Developers were given plenty of notice, and for whatever reason (lack of time, lack of interest, they are doing this for free after all), chose not to make the necessary changes.

Here are two plugins that work with the new OAuth system:

Thanks for the reply and update, I’m sure I’m not the only one in the same boat at least for now…

Will check those two out, although twitter-tools which I’ve tried before, sometimes doesn’t play well with others…

    Again appreciate the info…
    Thanks

    Just an informal update…

    The simple-twitter-connect
is an interesting way to go, although, it takes away from the original premise of user simple….

You have to create an application …..what type of app? have no idea…
register the app, then get a key, and secret key, then in order to use the app, have to insert the scripting somewhere within the pages of the blog.

Not really simple enough to just post and have it relayed automatically.
I suppose it would be once it’s been implemented, but if one doesn’t want to start mucking with placement of code in the wrong spots, then this isn’t for them.

I know dev’s do this for free, and some even have a link to donate which I have no problem ever doing, what they do is appreciative, but from the end user’s standpoint, simpler is better.

Hopefully those that have apps that are already developed and not working will get them to work…or some enterprising dev can maybe tweak things to make them work again.

Funny though how there’s thousands of working apps for Twitter to blog, but limited resources from blog to Twitter.

You have to create an application …..what type of app? have no idea…
register the app, then get a key, and secret key

That’s going to be true for all the plugins. that’s twitter’s new oAuth…. if you don’t have to do this for the plugin, it hasn’t been updated and won’t work
