    From what I can tell, your question is very similar to the other question posed here not too long ago.

    Have you tried the do_shortcode solution? Here it is: (Note that this is in your header.php)

    <?php
    /**
     * The template for displaying front page pages.
     *
     */
    ?>
    <?php get_header(); ?>
    <?php echo do_shortcode( '[vegasslider id="5" fade="800" overlay="http://demo.jamesdbruner.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/az_subtle.png"]' ) ?>

    Obviously replace my shortcode in the single quotes with yours.
