I'm looking for some advice, because I have to give it.

In the near future I'll have to recommend a hosting plan to "important people," and I'm looking at a few hosts; bluehost, 1&1, and aplus. Looking at 1&1 and aplus, and then looking at bluehost, it seems like bluehost is the obvious choice as they offer far more than either of the others for less money... so is there a catch? Or is bluehost really "all that?"

If you've dealt personally with any of the mentioned hosts here, could you let me know what your experience with them has been?

I would recommend http://www.valvehosting.com they have a special wordpress plan that includes pre-installed wordpress for only $2.50 a month.. this includes 500MB of space and 2GB of bandwith..

I use them for about ayear now

1&1 tend to have some support issues. I have some budget hosting with http://www.linhosting.com since about March and they have been very good so far. http://www.Tera-Byte.com are pretty decent as well but not as cheap. http://www.unitedhosting.co.uk are a good option for a UK company. While I haven't tried them yet, TextDrive.com looks interesting.

As podz says, lots of information out there, just take some time and wade through some. The forums on webhostingtalk.com can often be a good source of information by searching for the hosts you're interested in.
