Hanging at Step 2.

  • Hi,

It seems as though this is something of a common problem when installing WP, but can someone please explain to me (in words of one syllable if possible 🙂 ) how to resolve the problem of the installation process stalling at the second stage? Everything works fine, then the Step 2 page loads and no tables are created in the database.

    Help? Thanks in advance.

    We need some information:
    – who is your webhost ?
    – are you on Windows / Unix server ?
    – are there other WP installs on that host ?

    I’m having the same problem.

    Unix shared vps
    PHP 4.3.x
    MySql
    No other installs.

Just returns a blank html page when the script is run. DB connx fine, but no tables get set up. Seems the scripts just don’t do any work.

    Please advise.

Is php run as cgi on your server, or as an apache module? Is php run in safe mode on your server? What version of mySQL is installed on your server? Have you contacted your host to ask if they know whether wp can be successfully installed?
