• Handmade links means that I made the links to an internal page using the WYSIWYG editor (for clarification).

    What I did:

    I copied all the text from my homepage into a new page (titled test page) so I could play around with it and hopefully make the homepage better.
    I thought I had improved it, so I renamed my original homepage (bak( and then renamed the test page to the original name. I gave it the same slugs, I went to Settings > Reading and selected it as a static page.
    But the links do not work. Now well over half of the links I made by hand do not work, however, all the links in my WP generated navigation work and so do the links in my plugin generated html sitemap.

    I went to my permalinks and set it to custom /%postname%/ but that did not fix it. They worked perfectly before my haphazard attempt at improvements.

    I hand make all the internal links to keep away from plugins, so if I can’t repair this it is going to be a quite a few hours to fix this. I can also restore from a backup but I would really would like to know how I botched this thing up.

    I also don’t want to lose the new homepage and I don’t know if the html is bad so I am leerious of another cut and paste job.

    What is the recommended course of action for this kind of foul up.

    Thanks for considering my question

    Edit:
    when you hover over a link, it shows the URL in the lower left hand corner of the browser. those links are right, they are just being improperly redirected due to my hack and slash improvement methods.

    I just restored from before I got up to all the homepage monkey business and that copy of my site has bad links too.
    So I don’t know when this happened.
    I know they worked when I put made them.

    Anyway, all that stuff above is irrelevant. sorry for the confusion.

    Does anyone know of a possible cause.

    I have a redirect plugin. I checked the links in that by clicking on them, they go to the right pages. However, the same url from a link in a post goes to the index page.
    Also, not all of the links are redirected to the homepage, some still work properly.

    Edit:
    I just searched for the redirection plugin I am using. It is no longer listed here. So I searched by author name. It didn’t find anything either
    author=Fakhri Alsadi
    plugin=SEO Redirection

    but it still has a page off of wordpress.org

    Does this sound like it could be my problem. The redirects are not working. I consolidated a bunch of shorter posts on similar topics. I didn’t want to lose the links so I redirected.

    Could it be the redirect plugin that has done this or is there something else I can check before redoing all the links in my posts.
    …..
    I didn’t receive anything telling me it needed updating or anything. Maybe that only occurs if the author updates. perhaps this just isn’t compatible with the new WP version or something.

    I don’t know what is going on but I am going to get rid of the Redirect plugin completely and go through the posts one by one to fix any messed up links.

    Please DISREGARD.
