Had to troubleshoot my website as it kept getting slower and would spit 500 errors.
Turned-off all the plugins and re-enabled them one by one while testing to see which ones had the biggest hit on performance. Stock Quote Sidebar was dragging the WP system. Even though my other websites on the same server ran fine the site with SQS on it was slow.
Deactivated it and now the site is zippy again. Might have to look for another solution or just forget about using stock quotes as a sidebar widget.
That shouldn’t be the case, but there could be something else that the plugin depends on that has an issue (cURL, etc). You can enable timings in the stockquote.php file. There are two lines that need to be uncommented (should be lines 606 and 607). This will tell you how long plugin execution took from beginning to end.
Testing on my own site, it takes .03 seconds.
