Support » Plugin: Jetpack by WordPress.com » Had to restore site from backup

  • When I updated and activated the latest version of Jetpack (which states it’s compatible with version 4.9.4 of wp) it re-introduced some features we’d missed since deactivating the plugin and updating our wp version BUT it meant our website visibility was restricted to the size of the browser window. i.e. No scrolling capability. Most confusing!

Do you see the same issue if you try viewing your site in a different browser or from a different device?

To rule out a conflict, do you see the same problem if you temporarily disable all other plugins except for Jetpack and use a default theme, like Twenty Seventeen?

What is the address of the Jetpack site?

Once we get some feedback, we will be glad to continue helping you.

Once the Jetpack plugin is disabled the site still needs to be restored from backup.

I tried it a second time and had exactly the same issue.

I saw exactly the same problem using a different browser and device.

I haven’t gone through the process of disabling the other plugins so I can try that but I don’t think we’ll be testing a different theme.

When you ask for the address of the jetpack site I’m not 100% sure what you mean but our company site is http://www.bangpostproduction.com. The Jetpack plugin is disabled currently and the backup restored so you won’t see the same issue.

    Will do.

If you don’t want to test this on your live site, you can create a staging version of your site with a plugin like this:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-staging/

On the staging site, please both disable non-Jetpack plugins and switch to a default theme, in order to rule out a plugin/theme conflict.

    Thank you.

I created a staging site but Jetpack wouldn’t allow me to ‘authorise’ when trying to ‘set up Jetpack’.

I have been through and disabled each of the other plugins active on our site and it didn’t make a difference. The scroll defect was still there.
