I had to reset my login password (the one to get to the Dashboard) by using the instructions here: http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/phpmyadmin/

Now, instead of getting the login page, I’m seeing:

    Error establishing a database connection

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at mysql***.secureserver.net. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

I know I followed the instructions to a T and didn’t do anything else. I didn’t log out at first but just shut the browser tab; then I went back in and logged out. I’ve waited almost 1/2 hour and it’s still giving the message.

Now my blog is completely inaccessible. Won’t load at all. All I did was change the password for the user!

If it was working nd you didn’t change anything in wp-config.php, then your host’s db server must really be down. Report the problem to them as they may not even know yet.

I only went into phpMyadmin, in the database, into the user file as in the above tutorial.

I can connect through Filezilla, but I don’t know that that will get me anywhere. And I can’t connect using the offline editor I sometimes use.

Ok, I talked to my webhost’s tech support, and they tell me I have to change the config file to reflect the new password. But why would that give the error that all users now see (my dad just emailed me to tell me my site was down)?

Well, oddly enough, that seems to have worked. Or whatever server-side thing was going on was fixed.

    Thanks for your suggestion, Samboll.

If I do not install phpmyadmin how I can reset admin password ,
I am use wprdpress in FreeBSD 6.2
