• My recent upgrade to 3.4 destroyed my blog. Fortunately, I had the SQL database backed up (it’s 585 MB). I have re-installed wordpress at the same location, and want to know if it’s possible to/how to restore my old blog site to that location. I have tried the phpMyAdmin method noted in other forum threads, and it just seems to eternally stall (I can only guess, since there is no visual progress bar and nothing has worked). I don’t know anything about coding, so is there a way to actually restore my site that doesn’t involve high technical aptitude? I’d hate to see three years of work just cast to the wind.

  • when you try and import a large database may be there is limit set by your host try contact them and you may be able too upload your backup as file and they can set the database for you.

Did you restore to the same database or to the newly created database?

I re-installed wordpress, so it’s a new database (I guess – nothing of the old one remains except for my backup file).
