i added about 20-30 banners (dynamic where imaeges on banners change and static) and my website was blocked by my hosting provider because of a huge spike in resources consumption – that is i exceeded many fold resources i can use in my tariff

do u know what s going on, why and what to do with it
i didnt guess that using adrotate plugin may use soooo much of resources.

  • It’s probably related to the tracking that the plugin does. It calls admin-ajax.php … a lot! Especially if you have numerous ads on the page.

    Thanks Jon
do you have any ideas / advice how to reduce the impact of that?

We switched to AdRotate Pro, which allows for the tracking to be done via Google Analytics, rather than by WordPress. This will remove all of the admin-ajax requests, assuming that’s what causes your issue. Alternatively, you may be able to install the Heartbeat Control plugin to reduce the frequency of admin-ajax requests, but that may also prevent your tracking from logging stats correctly.

Hopefully the actual plugin developer can chime in here.

    thanks for helpful responses, Jon!

yes, would be great to hear smth from the plugin developer.

    Late reply:
Admin-ajax sometimes uses a lot of resources. Especially if you use dynamic groups a lot.
Use less dynamic groups or, as Jon suggested, move stats to a 3rd party.

    Thanks Arnan de Gans
