  • 1) Change all your passwords (FTP, cPanel, CMS, database, everything else under the sun)

    2) Update ALL of your software (CMS, plugins, themes) and get rid of any unused software

    3) When your site is clean, start performing backups for if/when this happens again

    There are some free security plugins that you can use like Wordfence, for example, to help you keep tabs on your site security.

    If you are willing to spend a little bit of money on securing your site I would suggest using a WAF (Web Application Firewall) like Cloud Proxy:
