• Hi all,
i am new to this and have neither web design or development experience.
It has become clear that our site has been compromised by a brute force attacker. The front end of our website will disappear when he has control, while the back end appears similar but with subtle differences.
When i have control i have installed Wordfence & securi in attempt to slow down the interference, and was planning to install other security plugins.
However, since there last visit, i can no longer install plugins or update woocommerce without getting error messages. (Listed below.)
Any help for a newbie as to what i can do or where i’m going wrong would be much appreciated.

Get a fresh cup of coffee, take a deep breath and carefully follow this guide. When you’re done, you may want to implement some (if not all) of the recommended security measures.

If you’re unable to clean your site(s) successfully, there are reputable organizations that can clean your sites for you. Sucuri and Wordfence are a couple.

Thanks for that Andrew. Ive read through this a few times now, and realise it is above my paygrade as i understand about half of it. who/whatever it is seems to take control at will and then i cant do anything.
i am currently getting a http error 500 message on both the main site and admin page.
