Support » Fixing WordPress » Hacked by index.php

  • One of my wrodpress websites were hacked, and I received an email that the password for admin has been changed. All other wordpress sites on the same hosting were hacked, but no access to the admin account, just the index.php files were replaced by a hack page.

I guess that the hacker has found a permission to replace index.php. Since no change is intended for changing index.php by wordpress; I wonder why the access permission for index.php is not set to 444 instead of 644.

What’s your opinion, is it a practical method to defeat hacking?
