    My wordpress site was hacked with the main page being replaced by a “defaced by hacker attack” page. I backed up and deleted the hacked installation. I am fairly sure i was an up to date 2.6.5 installation.

    My first sign of trouble was the following email

    Subject: Password Lost/Changed
    Password Lost and Changed for user: admin

    What causes wordpress to send this email? I’m trying to determine if they had my password, or if they somehow changed it without knowing the password I was using.
