I still have sites out on the net with themes based on underscores that have not been updated or hacked. I don’t think there’s vulnerabilities in the code.
Get a fresh cup of coffee, take a deep breath and carefully follow this guide. When you’re done, you may want to implement some (if not all) of the recommended security measures.
If you’re unable to clean your site(s) successfully, there are reputable organizations that can clean your sites for you. Sucuri and Wordfence are a couple.
Thanks. That is my only concern: That the older versions uf unserscore might be outdated since there are no updates abailaable, but the code of underscores is no more that one it used to be.
Since years I build 50% og my sites using underscore, now it must be a lot… 😉
As the focus for WP moves to blocks, it’s probably time to find a good block-based starter theme.
Hi Steven,
OK, maybe. But the theme works, the client is happy, there are no problems. so I do not see any necaissity to recode it. My only concern was the security of the old code.
I wasn’t suggesting going back into old sites — no client would pay for that –but as a thought going forward.
OK, so I understand better. Which starter-theme you would recommend nowadays?
