H1 Tag

  • Hi,

I have just run a report on SEOMoz which is telling me that my homepage coreheating.co.uk is generating 2 x h1 headings which is causing SEO confusion.

Does the twenty eleven template use the ‘site title’ as an H1?
I believe this is a problem on the main page only and not subsequent pages/blogs

I would like the h1 to be the page title (not the site title) how do I rectify this please?

    Many thanks, Abi

More than one H1 on a page: good or bad?

Thanks for the link – although still a little confused as my SEOmoz report was showing that more than 1 H1 is a bad thing – anymore feedback please? thanks

Have you tried a search engine forum like Google’s?

I have been referred to wordpress as its the wordpress theme that is generating the 2 x h1s. thanks

That may be, but what you are asking is not a simple fix – you’d need to recode HTML, PHP and CSS. Are you familiar with code?

It’s also not likely a major factor in your site ranking, as SEO takes into account many factors.

SEOmoz report was showing that more than 1 H1 is a bad thing..

I just took a quick look at http://www.seomoz.org/. I’ve found 2 H1 on that page, and they are not in <hgroup>.

WP themes, like 2011 in this case, has 2 H1 but they are within <hgroup> in different document section. So who is doing the bad thing here ?
