Support » Plugin: WP-Optimize - Clean, Compress, Cache. » GZIP Option giving error when gzip on server level

    Hello,

    Took me contacting hosting support to realize the server had gzip enabled and didn’t need the GZIP provided by WP-Optimize.

    It would be nice if the option was disabled when GZIP is already in place. Currently when you try to enable in this circumstance you just get an error;

    All the best,
    Cheers

    Hi Garrett,

    WP-Optimize checks your active theme’s style.css to determine if gzip is already enabled, and doesn’t give the option to enable it if it already is.
    So it appears that either the detection failed on your site, either gzip isn’t enabled for CSS files.

    Would you be able to share your site’s URL?

    Marc.

    Thanks Marc, I sent it via your contact form. I appreciate you looking into this. Cheers

    I looked at the site’s style.css, and it should actually show gzip as enabled. I’ve tested the detection process on a local instal, linking to your site’s style.css, and it reported gzip as already enabled, so I’m not sure why it doesn’t show it for you.

    Very interesting, going back to the interface today I get the ‘Gzip compression is already enabled’ message. So I guess was an anomaly. Closing this out. Thanks for looking at it.
