Support » Plugin: Comet Cache » Gzip compression not working?

  • Resolved Craig

I love your plugin and recommend it to all my clients.

That said, I’m having a problem with GZIP compression on one of my sites.

I enabled GZIP compression from the plugin’s settings, as usual, and have checked that the code is correctly in my .htaccess file.

However, the GZIP compression isn’t working. On every test (GTmetrix and Google PageSpeed Insights, etc.), I’m told to enable GZIP compression (and the site gets a big fat zero for this on GTmetrix).

    Can you please advise?

    Here’s the site in question:

@craigrkirkby Thanks so much for recommending us! I’m thrilled that you’re enjoying Comet Cache. 🙂

Regarding GZIP Compression: GZIP Compression is something that is enabled by the web server itself. Comet Cache has an option to insert the necessary .htaccess code to enable web server GZIP Compression, but if that’s not working then you’ll want to check if the necessary web server module is installed (mod_deflate for Apache).

Or, if that site is running on NGINX, you’ll need to make sure the appropriate configuration is in place (see this guide for further info).

    I hope this helps!

I should add that a great site for checking if GZIP Compression is enabled is

I just checked your site, and it looks like GZIP Compression is enabled:

    Hi Raam

Thank you for your replies. Yes, I removed the GZIP compression added by the Comet Cache plugin and added one suggested by GTMetrix. And then it worked for me.

    Anyway, thanks again!
