A Gzip compression test revealed that Gzip is enabled and included in our response headers (Content-Encoding: gzip), however, WP Optimize GZip compression reports that it is disabled. Does WP optimize have an option to enable it or is there another issue that needs to be resolved? Thank you.

WP optimize does not have the option to enable it but you should be able to enable it fairly easily through your hosting. If you are of unsure of how, your hosting company should be able to help (its normally under the php version menu or php models menu)

Thank you for the quick response. Just to be clear, the option is under Cache >> Gzip Compression “Gzip compression is currently DISABLED. Check status again”

Like I mentioned, this is enabled on our server. Are you saying to ignore this feature, or there is in fact an issue on our end. Thanks again.

@bandreas3 This feature only add .htaccess rules to serve gzip compressed assets. This still required deflate or brotli module on your server.

That said, as you said, your server already has one of the mentioned modules as well as .htaccess rules to serve static assets.

In such case, you should see Gzip compression is already enabled. message instead of DISABLED. However, we check whether gzip content is served or not by request theme’s style.css file. In your site it is missing, so you are seeing DISABLED message.

In short, just ignore the message. All is well.
