    Hi

    I posted here once and I’ve not returned. I was looking for local windows server so that I could practice etc.

    Any I’ve set up a test blog to get a feel for wordpress, and when I click upgrade, it says I can have no ads etc. this is only when I have a free blog through wordpress right? If I get my own domain and host it’s all free and everything else (data etc) depends on the host right?

    It also say that I can pay to have custom css, but what if I build my own and use my own host etc, is it free? There is an option for no ads etc.

    Oh and when I’m ready, can I migrate my free blog onto my own hosted wordpress blog site, where I choose the domain etc?

    if you self-host you can do/add anything you want up to what the host allows
    yes you can export your wordpress.com blog and import it to self-hosted blog

    Cool thanks for the quik reply mate. That’s good news as I’m really keen to use wordpress to build sites and I like the cms backend aspect and the open sourceness of it. I was afraid there was some massive catch 22.

    Now to brush up on css skills and get a host.

    Oh one other question, I can have any domain name I want right, as long as it’s mine and i’ve registered it right?

    Oh one last thing, I have the username ‘unconformed’ on this fourm, can I use that to make an account? cause I had to come up wioth anotherone (popwizard)
