Gutenberg missing ‘Copy to a new draft’ link from the publish metabox

    Hi Lopo,

    We’ve been transitioning over to the block editor for a few clients and once complained that the ‘Copy to a new draft’ link is missing in the Publish Meta box by the ‘Move to Trash’ link, see example from classic editor;

    I’ve pointed them to use the link in the admin bar;

    But just wanted to flag this was missing for the block editor and wasnt sure if that was intentional.

    Hi @garrett-eclipse,
    the admin bar link is actually the current way to deal with Gutenberg. The UI had been changing a lot in the last few months before the release of the block editor in WordPress core so I choose a conservative approach waiting for things to stabilise.
    Moreover, the link above “Move to Trash” was somehow a relic from the days when there were just a few ways to edit WordPress UI

    In the next versions, as part of a major redesign of the plugin, I’ll try to investigate which can be the best approach to integrate in thew new UI.
    I’m open to suggestions! 🙂

    Thanks @lopo for sure I appreciate that. I’ll advise my clients use the admin bar link for now.

    Looking at the block editor there’s two placements that come to mind for me at least;
    1. Up in the block editor top bar where Preview/Update is something like this;

    2. As another button before the move to trash something like this;

    Either of these would be helpful as if you go into full screen mode the admin bar vanishes and with it your ability to duplicate.
