Guitar tuner Widget not working.

  • Hi, I am currently trying to get my site up and running with informative info about how to fix and play guitar. Whilst writing my latest post I realised that I would have to direct the reader to another tab to use an “On-Line guitar tuner”, I then found a tuner which said I could add it as a “Widget” to my website. I followed the instructions several times but still nothing happens, I think adding the copied code into a text window without some sort of embedded player just does not work. Does anyone know how to get this thing working as a “Widget” in a sidebar?

    Maybe if you provided the name of the tuner or a link to where you got it from? Hard to answer your question without knowing how it works or what code its using

    Hi Webjunk, thanks for the reply I didn’t want to clutter up the post with unnecessary code in the first instance but as you have asked, this is the read me file – Guitar Tuner
    Copyright (c) 2002 Mike Gieson

    If you use the guitar tuner on your web site, please provide a link
    back to me using the following as an example:

    Guitar Tuner courtesy of the folks at
    Wimpy Player

    To use the tuner on your site:

    1. Open the file named
    “tuner.html” with a text eidtor.
    2. Copy and paste all of the code anywhere between the opening <body> and closing
    </body> tag in your web page.

    And this is the code they mention – <!– START GUITAR TUNER CODE
    Guitar Tuner – Copyright (c) 2002 Mike Gieson. If you use the guitar tuner on your web site, please provide a link back to me using the following as an example: Guitar Tuner courtesy of the folks at Wimpy Player
    <object classid=”clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000″ codebase=”http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=5,0,0,0″ width=”600″ height=”288″>
    <param name=movie value=”tuner24.swf”>
    <param name=quality value=high>
    <embed src=”tuner24.swf” quality=high pluginspage=”http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash” type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” width=”600″ height=”288″>
    </embed> </object>

    The real question is – can this be integrated into a WordPress site or am I walking up a dead end street?

    should be able to do it with this plugin

    For future reference when needing to paste large amounts of code use:

    The problem is that you did not give the exact directory to find tuner24.swf. Use a URL (http://) to the file where it actually exists and it will work without a plugin. Here is just the part to correct:

    <param name=movie value="http://YOURDOMAIN.com/wp-content/uploads/tuner24.swf">
    <param name=quality value=high>
    <embed src="http://YOURDOMAIN.com/wp-content/uploads/tuner24.swf" quality=high

    Now what I would like to see is a computer tuner that works like my chromatic electronic tuners…..

    To Samuel B,
    Thanks for the help, I downloaded the .swf player you suggested , uploaded the tuner.swf file to my S3 space, pressed the red flash button it provided and it came up with some dialogue boxes I could not quite work out, anyway after pressing the “Generate” button, it posted some stuff in my post box and I tried reviewing it and nothing happened (again)
    I posted the url of the file after uploading i.e https://freerangeeggs.s3.amazonaws.com/tuner24.swf and all I got on the review was just the url and an empty box below! Aplologies for being an idiot, but I am unsure what to do with the code you sent me to correct it 🙁 I’m sure there are substitutions involved but I don’t know what or where?)
    To both,
    Maybe I am misunderstanding the term “Widget” in as much as I thought it to be a stand alone application that will run alongside one of my own video’s that are being played by “Vipers-video-quicktags” – the plugin I use to embed my videos.
    Do you think I should enlist the help of a web designer and just ask for what I require?

    Maybe I was not clear. Your <object> code was fine EXCEPT that you need within the object code give the exact URL to the the SWF. That is al I am doing on this page and this is Your tuner, right?

    This is Exactly what I have for that page:

    <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=5,0,0,0" width="600" height="288">
    <param name=movie value="http://webjunkdemo.com/corsophoto/wp-content/uploads/tuner24.swf">
    <param name=quality value=high>
    <embed src="http://webjunkdemo.com/corsophoto/wp-content/uploads/tuner24.swf" quality=high pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="600" height="288">
    </embed> </object>
    <p>Guitar Tuner courtesy of the folks at Wimpy Player</p>

    I managed to get it working ok with the Kimili plugin after a few iterations 🙂 my next task is see if I can get it over on a side bar just like a “Widget”
    Just copying the code with the exact URL https://freerangeeggs.s3.amazonaws.com/tuner24.swf does not even let me review the post?

    Hey Peatee,

    Ive just finished creating embed codes that will work in text widgets on your wordpress blog.

    Go to any of the 76 tuners pages from this page and copy the appropriate code for your layout. http://www.gtdb.org/guitar-tunings-db/guitar-tuners-embed-code-demo/

    It all very simple. All guitar tuners are high quality samples from an authentic Taylor Acoustic guitar.
