    Dear Support-Team,

we use the PublishPress Author plugin for our internal company information platform. As maintenance is to be carried out by several people in the future, we use the plugin to assign several users to the pages and posts. Later, the users will only have access to their “own” pages and posts and will only be able to change these.

We have noticed that every registered user (= author type registered author with user account) in the PublishPress Author plugin has an English translation. This author type is specified as “Guest author without user account”. Why is that the case? Can this be stopped? This makes the presentation of the authors confusing. It also makes it more difficult to assign authors to pages and posts, as they are then available for selection twice.

    Thanks for your help!

    Kind regards,
    Anna Großpötzl

    Hi @webteamka123,

As it has been disabled but still results the same, do you perhaps have a translation plugin installed such as WPML? It can also cause the issue.

    Sorry for the delay.

Yes, we are using a translation plugin – Loco Translate and Polylang. So could the problem be due to the use of this plugin? How can we solve the problem? Do I have to ask the providers of Loco Translate and Polylang?

    Kind Regards
    Anna

Hi @webteamka123. Correct, the issue is likely with Polylang. They create duplicates of everything, including authors.

    Hey there,

thanks for your support. Communication with Polylang support is somewhat difficult. That’s why I’m contacting you again: Which translation plugin would you recommend to get around this problem?
As we would like to use PublishPress, it would be great to get a tip.

    Thanks,
    Anna

    Hi @webteamka123 ,

I cannot guarantee that the other translations plugin will not result the same as Polylang since it is not developed by us. You can try to use other translation plugin like Translatepress and WPML, however you need to find out if they create duplicate for taxonomies for the translation or not by contacting the developer or plugin providers.

Basically, Authors from PublishPress Plugin is just taxonomies, you can confirm the plugin providers regarding this as well.

    Hope it helps
