# Grouping Field groups?

 * Hi!
 * I’m wondering is it possible to group and order multiple/different field groups
   within a given template?
 * The idea is to add the different groups to a given page for example, I use the
   same video player or gallery fields. So instead of me adding them to each template,
   I can create a field group, and call that whenever i need it and layout the page
   with tabs.
 * I can asign them to a given template, but when I add a tab to each group, it 
   ignores them and stacks them vertically instead of using the tabs.
 * I could really use this functionality right now for a project as I have 100+ 
   modules for a site. It could get very messy!
 * Any input or advise would help

 * Take a look at the flexible content add-on [http://www.advancedcustomfields.com/resources/flexible-content/](http://www.advancedcustomfields.com/resources/flexible-content/).
   It will give you better flexibility in stacking/ordering your groups, as well
   as calling it only when you need it. Besides that, you can create fields with
   conditional logic so when it’s selected, it will display the extra fields or 
   groups necessary for that page.

 * It’s not the flexible content field. I guess I was trying to explain how I was
   hoping to use the fields.
 * When I create a new custom field group, that has a tab at the start and assign
   it to ‘default template’, then create a new custom field group with a tab at 
   the top and assign it to ‘default template’, the tabs dont work, they stack vertically.
 * A good idea would be to be able to select field groups and make a new fieldgroup
   from the sub ones – if you get me?

 * if I understand you now, I think you are using the wrong method to build the 
   tabs. The tabs need to be built in only one field group. The tab field work as
   divisors within that field group.
 * Field group = My tabs.
    1- Tab 1 – Field type= tab (this is the first tab.) 2-
   custom fields a 3- custom field b 4- Tab 2 – Field type= tab (this is the second
   tab) 5- custom field a 6- Tab 3 – Field type= tab (this is the third tab)
 * You can add any number/type of custom fields between the tabs and they will show
   accordingly when the tab is clicked.
    Field groups are independent meta boxes
   and they do not stack together.
 * Just an update. I actually created some tabs today for a project and I thought
   I could share how I used it.

 * You just revolutionized how I’m going to set up my current site lol
 * Thanks so much for this. I can now collapse my two field groups with 4 sets of
   fields into a much neater data entry area.
