Support » Plugin: WP Simple Calendar » Grid view not displaying new calendar items

  • It looks like as of the update to WordPress 4.6 the grid template view does not display newly inputted calendar items.
Calendar items entered before WordPress 4.6 look to still be able to connect to the grid view properly and display in the calendar, but items entered after updating to 4.6 will only display in list view and not in the grid view.

If you have any work arounds or fixes, that would be great (since the plugin is still a good one and very usable).

    Thanks,
    Sean

    Hey Sean,

Thanks for the note. Your timing is pretty great, actually. On Friday, I started a pretty big overhaul of the WP Simple Calendar plugin since it hasn’t been touched in quite a while. I’ve set up a repo on Github for the plugin and have already done a bunch of work, but the grid view is still being worked on.

I hope to have an update to the plugin ready for release real soon!

    Hi John,

That is great news! Thank you for the quick response too.
We will check out the Github version and wait for the official WP repo update to apply it to our live environment.

    Thanks again!
    Sean

    Hi John,

Just wanted to follow up on this to see when the updates were scheduled to be released.
We have a handful of clients that are using the plugin and are anxious to add some new items to their calendars.

Sorry to bug & thanks again for all of your help.

    Best,
    Sean

Hi, same problem here…I have it running on three sites, desperately needing an updated version.

    Thanks

Yep. I know about the issue and I’ll be working on it shortly. I should have a solution ready to push out in the next couple days. I appreciate your patience!

I just released version 2.0 of the plugin, and the grid view is working with WP 4.6.

FYI, there are a few big changes that took place under the hood. It required that I make some changes to the way data was being stored. But it should really improve the performance of the plugin, so that’s a good thing.

There is a data migration routine that SHOULD happen when you upgrade the plugin. But, if you upgrade and the grid view still isn’t working, please deactivate and then reactivate the plugin. That will definitely kick off the migration routine.

Thank you for your patience. And, if you run into any issues, please let me know!

    Hi John,

You guys are totally awesome. Version 2.0 fixed the grid view (but we did need to deactivate the plugin and re-activate for the DB migration to take place).

Thank you so much for the adjustments. All of us that use the plugin love it (and how simple it is to use).

    Best,
    Sean

So glad it worked out for you, Sean! And thank you for the kind words. Really appreciate it.

Also, thanks for letting me know you needed to deactivate/reactive the plugin. Hope that doesn’t trip up too many people.

    Hi John,

We did find later that in the upgrade the event paging is limited to 1 item per page (in the WP admin) after the update. Also the date encoding in the listing seems to be displaying erroneously (in the WP admin).

Here is a link to the screenshot displaying the issue:

This is not a super serious issue because the events can still be searched and new events can be added, but thought this should be brought up to be fixed in the near future.

    Thanks again for your help.

Bah! I fixed both of those things during development and must have broke them again before releasing.

I’ll push out an update to fix both of those shortly.

    Thanks for the note.

wow, that was a dumb mistake on my part. I left some debug code in there which was causing both issues.

Fixed and pushed as version 2.0.1

    Hi John,

Thank you so much for the quick turn around on this. The plugin is working great all around now.

Thanks again for all of your help.

    Best,
    Sean
