Hi. I have two questions. Firstly, I wonder if it’s possible to remove some of the buttons in the top bar on top of the designer?

I would like to leave only “clear all”, “delete”, “flip horizontally”, “flip vertically” and the “undo/redo” buttons, and delete or hide all other buttons.

Is this possible? I am not scared going into the files and make coding changes, but then… with the next update these will all be lost though! How would be the best way to do this?

Secondly, how can I change the word “Background” in the Shapes section to say “Shape Colour”?

    Thanks in advance. 🙂

You can hide the buttons via the theme child css file so they won’t be affected by the updates.

Thank you, Orion. That worked! 🙂

What about changing the word “Background” in the Shapes section to say “Shape Colour”?

All strings in the plugin are included in languages files. You can modify them using poedit or a plugin named loco translate https://fr.wordpress.org/plugins/loco-translate/

I don’t quite understand – this is not a translation, just a change of an English word. But in case it’s of importance, we use WPML for translation (English/Bulgarian) on the website I’m working on.

Yes the best way to do that is to edit the translation file. Otherwise if you edit the source code, you may need to do it again after each update no mention that it’s very risky.

I don’t even know where to look for that though… what file and/or folder would I need to be searching for? Sorry about so many questions!

If we’re talking about locotranslate, please install the plugin first and then open a ticket at help.orionorigin.com so i can capture a video that shows you what to do.

No, we’re not talking about locotranslate, we are using WPML for our translation. But again, I stress that I don’t need translation.

I only want to change *one* word in English – the word “Background” changed to “Shape Colour”.

Yes i understand that you only want to change one word. And I repeat you can do it by editing the language file using locotranslate. I’m not sure if WPML has a language file edition feature but locotranslate does that. The strings are not considered to be in english. So you can edit the english file or your website language translation file and then add a new string to change the word Background.

Hi Orion, thank you for explaining that. However, with this particular website, we have had a lot of problems due to plugins not playing well with each other, plus a lot of customisation done by a third party developer for us, and I would rather not install a second translation plugin just in case it breaks everything (again!).

Is there any other way to change just that one word, even if I have to re-upload the language file again after an update? If you just point me at which file I would need to edit, that would probably be the safest method in our situation and setup. 🙂

You can look into the file /wp-content/plugins/woocommerce-product-designer/includes/class-wpd-editor.php line 591. Replace this:
    <span class="text-label"><?php _e("Background", "wpd"); ?></span>

    by

    <span class="text-label"><?php _e("Shape Colour", "wpd"); ?></span>

Thank you, that’s great, it’s the best solution for *this* website! 😉

Hi – this can be marked as resolved now, thanks.
