Grey square appears on my blog pages..

    Hey all,
    I have a few issues with my wordpress site, using Shell lite and am not sure if they are linked to the theme or wordpress… I’m not a big crack at programming so please bear with me.
    On my blogs page there now appears a rather large grey square that has no purpose. Do you have any idea how that got there and what I could do about it?

    Also I thought to have turned off my comments on all pages and yet people are still able to comment, except in my latest blog where it seems not possible anymore. I am spammed wuite a lot and would love to tackle that as well…

    And I don;t know how to turn off the ‘Blogroll’ on the bottom of my homepage… http://www.trancecoachlondon.com/

    Thank you for reading and I would really apreciate some easy insights or ideas…

    Hi Gido,

    First of all I’ll advice you to update to the latest version of the theme.

    About the grey box, this should be Widget, so you can remove it from Dashboard => Appearance => Widgets. This widgets should be in “Primary Sidebar Widget”.
    Same for the “Blogroll”, but this should be in “Primary Home Sidebar Widget”.

    About the comments, here you can check how to disable them:

    Hey Stanko,
    thank you for your reply/advice.
    When I click update the theme it tells me I loose all customizations. I fear it will change or take all my pictures on the front page out for instance. Would you know anything about this?
    I rather leave the greay square for now then messing up the whole page as it takes so much time to get everything back..
    Will have a look at the widgets now and thank youfor the comments links. Thats great!

    Hey,

    I would suggest you to find a plugin and to make a backup of your site. They are few really good plugins, check the Plugin section.
    About these changes, you will loose changes if you are made changes to theme files, because updating will overwritten Shell Lite’s files.
    But featured image, page/post content is stored in the database, so you shouldn’t have any loose during the theme updates.
