I bought my domain about a year before I ever built the website for it, that’s because I was extremely picky and simply couldn’t find any template that fit my vision. After thinking about what I wanted, I somehow stumbled across a template that would be ideal—it was made by Colibri. Of course, if I wanted to do that I had to pay for it, and in the end I decided it was worth it as it was the only one I found that actually looked the way I wanted it to look.

I’ve had my site up and running for about a year now and I’ve certainly encountered a few things I wasn’t expecting, that was usually with a plugin that didn’t work with Colibri. In most cases, I was able to find a different one that would work, but not in all cases. One case was the forum I wanted, I had tried a number of forum plugins but most were overly complex or didn’t work the way I wanted them to work. After finally finding the right forum plugin, and setting it all up to look correct, there was one big problem: the format bar was missing when posting any new topics or comments. That means people posting anything couldn’t format the text, so no text in bold, italics, strikethrough, different colors, etc., nor could they even add photos or create links from text. This is a basic feature that all forums need.

After reading everything about the forum plugin and trying everything I could, it just wouldn’t work. After some troubleshooting I found that the Colibri Page Builder plugins were the cause. If I disabled those, it all worked… of course, I lost my template when those were disabled. So I contacted Colibri, explained the situation, provided a narrated screen recording, and hoped they could help… and help they did! Colibri ended up creating a custom plugin to resolve the issue between it and the forum plugin. Now, everything works beautifully.

I’ve had to reach out to them for support on other things too, and every time I’ve done that I’ve been impressed with their response time and how quickly and efficiently they solve whatever problem I’m encountering. Most of the fixes usually involve simply adding a snippet of additional CSS, sometimes it’s a little different. But every time, it’s been solved.

I see a lot of forums and complaints about Colibri, and I didn’t know anything about them when I bought the template and lifetime plan. But since I’ve been using this software and template for the past year, I’ve found it remarkably easy to use, easy to customize, and the support is world class. Sure, it has a hiccup every now and then, but that’s honestly fairly rare, the biggest issue I ever encounter is some sort of incompatibility with other plugins—so for that, just search for a different one that does work, or contact their support team. I can’t sing their praises enough
