• I’ve used Yoast for many years across hundreds of websites and have always considered it a reliable and effective SEO tool. However, the recent update introducing the split-screen interface has made the plugin practically unusable in its current form.

The new layout is incredibly awkward, especially for those of us not working on 4K displays. It dramatically reduces the space available for editing content and navigating key features, making basic tasks unnecessarily frustrating. It feels like this redesign was implemented without considering real-world usage or the workflows of professionals who rely on Yoast daily.

At this point, it’s difficult to continue recommending or using the plugin, and unless things change very quickly, I will be seeking alternative solutions to what has, up to now, been a great tool. I sincerely hope the development team listens to user feedback and brings back the more practical, user-friendly interface we’ve come to depend on. Should that happen, I’ll be more than happy to revise my rating accordingly.

    Hi @cheechrockwizard

Thank you for sharing your feedback and experience with the Yoast SEO plugin. We appreciate the user feedback.

Would it be possible for you to share some screenshots as well as more details on the recent update introducing the split-screen interface that you mean? Is this the Yoast SEO meta box or sidebar when editing a post or page? Or is it somewhere in the Yoast SEO settings?

We’d like to know more about the pain points and areas of improvement so we can refine and improve the user interface that would be beneficial to our users.

We look forward to hearing from you.

It wasn’t broken. Do not fix it.

I can’t share screenshots here, but to be clear: I’m referring to the disastrous split-screen metabox layout you’ve forced into the post/page editor.

Previously, we could simply scroll down, edit SEO content quickly, and move on. Now, thanks to this so-called “improvement,” we’re battling a clunky, disjointed UI that disrupts workflow and wastes time. It’s inefficient, poorly designed, and clearly built without any consideration for how real users, (especially professionals working at scale), actually interact with WordPress.

I run an agency. My team and I use this tool dozens of times a day. This update has had a direct negative impact on our productivity across every project. What used to take seconds now takes far longer, with zero additional benefit.

Frankly, I don’t have the time or patience to explain why this change is bad. It should have been obvious in pre-beta testing. If this interface remains in place, we’ll be replacing Yoast across more than 150 client sites. You had a dependable, efficient product. You’ve broken it.

Hear, hear! They can add another 200+ sites to this number if they don’t revert this awful split screen interface change or at least give the option to disable it.
