Hi, I am looking for a plugin (also for a non-profit weekend school) which allows the teachers to post assignments on the website through email. you might be able to answer my question, Does Postie allow multiple users post-by-email on multiple blogs using categories on the same website. Any input would be a big help!

Yes Postie can allow multiple users to post directly to a website using an email. The entries are Posts so you have to set up your pages to display a post of a certain category. Post Plugins allow this. Instruct your users to enter the ‘Post category’ in the subject line of their email and they can post to a specific page or area of your web site.
Try it on your site as a test first. I loaded this to 5 websites and I only had one that would not allow the retrieval of the email. You do need to create a new email, like gmail, to use as the holding area for the emails.
If you got to ReStore.org, the bottom of the home page shows pictures that are posted from 2 different sources. These are pictures taken with a phone and then emailed to the specified email. Every 30 minutes the web retrieves new emails and posts them and then deletes the source email.

Thanks for your quick reply, I do have my blogs set up (displaying a category). When you say a new email such as gmail , is that the email you put in your postie setup. Also do the other users posts display as themselves or a general ‘admin’ user
Postie goes out and checks the defined email to see if there are any new emails to post. You don’t want to use your personal email or items may get posted that you didn’t want to post. There are settings in postie to display what ever you want in regards to the source of the email. I have all that turned off so posts are not tied to specific people.

The great thing about Postie is it lets you define the structure of the Website and other people can add content as they need it. Depending on your Post plug-in you can also tell the system how many posts to display before deleting the old ones.
