Support » Plugin: AMP for WP - Accelerated Mobile Pages » Great plugin, but shady approach

  • This plugin is really great, it does the job that’s supposed to, but we never opted to receive any communication from the developer, yet they added us to their newsletter, got information from our users and emailed them too.

    Hey @crispunk

We’re so honored to have you as one of the users. We give an option for people to either subscribe or dismiss the notification. We have never forced anything on any user.

Shady? I’m surprised to see this 🙁 – Breaks my heart to know that you feel this way. Can you please elaborate on this?

We’re always user and community first.

    Regards,
    Ahmed

As I said, I really liked the plugin, but we got an email today on your behalf pointing some errors, greatly appreciated, but we never opted for those emails, seems weird on how you actually got them and emailed specific users of our site.

Not sure if it’s a confusion but that is what make me give this rating.

    Thanks.

    Hey @crispunk

After you install the plugin, we give an option to users if they want to be on our list, we only email them once in a while when there is a big update about AMP. Please see this screenshot: http://take.ms/mldZY

The reason behind this was that it helps us get the user feedback and helps improve the plugin.

How can providing good user experience be shady?

    Regards,
    Ahmed Kaludi

It’s not that, we got an email on your behalf advising some errors on our amp site, which we appreciate if we have opted for it, but we didn’t.

    Hey @crispunk

We don’t send any emails advising about any errors on your AMP version. Can you forward that to ahmed@magazine3.com ?

I would really like to see that email. Because I cannot ignore an unhappy user. I need to act on this. Please.

    Regards,
    Ahmed

    Hey @crispunk

    Any update on this?

Hi, just forward it to you.

    Hi Ahmed

I’m doing a follow up, did you got my emails? I’ve sent you a couple with no response.

    Thanks

can you tell me if you are still looking for my email? I haven’t got an answer from you in 1 week not sure what’s the problem.

    Hey @crispunk

I am really really sorry, I totally forgot to tell you this. I have removed all the email lists but I forgot to reply.

If they are a new user, They get a message box asking for their permission to subscribe to the list. So they actually subscribed themselves and only then they received the emails.

I have manually unsubscribed those two emails from our list long ago. I personally apologize for the inconvenience that I may have caused.

    Regards,
    Ahmed
