I’m a bootstrapping entrepreneur with an idea, a dream, and no budget. I’m a one-man show. I dove blind and recklessly into the unknown murky waters of website development out of necessity. I researched email delivery systems for a solution that would allow me to send out emails to targeted lists, add and remove tags and have scalability as my big idea grows. I looked at Mail Chimp, Active Campaign, Mailerlite and a host of other solutions. They all had poor customer service and support and they become HUGELY expensive as your list management numbers scale up.

I wanted scalability, good support and a product provider that would develop for the future, be responsive and not break the bank. GroundHogg is just that.

GroundHogg was the new kid on the block. Just like me. I decided to give them a shot. I’m a creative genius. Programming and code are not in my wheelhouse – but as a bootstrapper I had to adapt and just get it done. I purchased Groundhogg and was able to install it pretty easily. When I ran into problems and contacted support they were excellent. When I pointed out things in the tutorials or process that were confusing to me – almost immediately I saw they had changed them on the website to reflect my input. I’ve been running GroundHogg for over 6 months and it has worked perfectly.

How does it compare to my experience with Active Campaign? I started with Active Campaign because it was recommended as the industry standard for applying TAGS and creating segmented lists. I found their support lacking. When I had issues they sent me automated links to articles, most of which I had already read.
When I finally received responses from their support team it was 3-5 days later and their responses never solved they issues and required another email exchange and another 3-5 delay. They were a bit snooty and I felt that they could care less about my business unless I paid over $500 a month – which happens quickly as your lists grow over 20,0000 subscribers.

    Cons of GroundHogg

Its a plugin. It does increase your website load. I haven’t noticed much of a difference.

    Benefits of GroundHogg

      You can create segmented lists
No emails send limits with a “Gotcha” price increase
You can have several lead magnets with different forms
You can track and view exactly what and when each contact has downloaded and/or opened an email
You can easily email individual contact
      They have excellent support
They are rapidly expanding and improving their services
They are good people with a good company ethic and mission

Would I recommend it. Yup. I’m a Groundhogger now.
