I would give this 5 stars but the thing about connecting with wordpress.com is not cool. So, 4 stars.

As, the features like sharing do not require to be connected with wordpress.com. It would be great if this was independent without having to create a wordpress.com account just to use few features.

But overall does a great job for handling many functionality under one roof.

Perhaps in the future update, no wordpress.com connection required (being hopeful).....

    Hi Cylis,

    As I explained here:

a connection to WordPress.com is needed since many Jetpack features make use of WordPress.com resources. If you'd rather not connect to WordPress.com, you can still use some of the modules, by following the steps detailed here:

Thanks for your comment Richard, I really like the comment functionality in Jetpack. It is the main reason I use Jetpack as it gives default wordpress commenting+facebook+twitter. However, I noticed something strange yesterday in a site in my localhost. I mistakenly disconnected the connection by clicking the button in Jetpack page. Now there is no Connect button at all. The comment functionality has returned to default wordpress one. Am I missing something or is it a bug?

    Hy Cylis,

That's normal. When we detect that you are on a localhost, we remove the Connect button and put you in Dev mode:

Since many features require an ongoing connection to WordPress.com, we turn off those features while in Dev mode; hence, the missing Comment form.
