Support » Plugin: LifterLMS » Great concept… but

  • The quizzes, ease of use, design, and GUI of the LMS is great. That’s the positive side. Support is not timely and usually not very helpful. The quizzes create multiple calls to admin-ajax and even after gzip compression and limiting heartbeat, we still get multiple stalls and timeouts because it’s not able to load the admin-ajax file.

Lifter LMS is a very well-designed program and is easy to learn. The lack of admin control over students, students progress, admin testing ability, and multiple stalling doesn’t have me confident about this plugin.

I am doing my best to assist you and I hope you can continue working with me to bring this to a pleasing resolution. I hope you can provide me with what I’ve requested in my last email so that I can really figure out what’s causing the errors on your site.

As I said in my email I suspect there’s an error occurring as a result of a server or plugin conflict of some kind. I am truly sorry that this is happening and that I haven’t been able to identify the issue yet. I’ve been doing my best to work through this with you.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

A quick note: GZIP and Heartbeat play almost no factors here. I can’t ignore that. Enabling GZIP compression will ensure that the actual CSS and JS files get downloaded by end users faster but they are not going to speed up the actual processing of data on your server which is what could be causing a timeout.

After several more months of using Lifter LMS, we’re not seeing any improvement in performance. It is consistently locking up on students as well as painfully slow during admin operations. We have used multiple hosting providers, including some preferred WordPress-managed hosts to no avail. Since Lifter is the only active plugin on our site, and we’ve used multiple hosts, we’re narrowing down the performance issues back to LifterLMS. It’s too bad.

I’m curious what version of LifterLMS you’re using here… I’d also be curious if you’d be willing to respond to us about the issues you initially raised. It’s been 5 months since my last response here and I honestly can’t remember your name to connect you to email tickets. I’m again very sorry that you’re having issues.

I can assure you that in the past 6 months we’ve made significant performance improvements in LifterLMS. I hope you’ve upgraded as we’ve released upgrades.

We have lots of very large sites using LifterLMS. Performance is complicated. It takes more than just a plugin to ensure everything works well.

I understand if you need to move on but if you do have specific examples of performance concerns where you can pinpoint what LifterLMS is doing wrong I’d really really love the opportunity to look at that data or those reports and examples.

We’re here to work with you and you know how to find us should you want to keep working to resolve these issues.
