review edited — as troubleshooted below, cause of issue is another plugin. admin menu editor — which I had deactivated to test if was causing and issue remained, however on a site without admin menu editor ever being activated the position of WP RSS Retriever is not an issue

    Great Features
    Very Good Support

Thank you for this very useful plugin.

I was prepared to give it a hearty 5-stars, however the developer decision to force 2 WordPress RSS Retriever links under the “Dashboard” section of the admin menu, is extremely irritating and really unforgivable.

Please reconsider that move, and I’ll change my rating and become an even happier user

    Regards

There should be 0 links for this plugin under the dashboard. What version of WordPress are you running and can you provide a screenshot of the links?

    Thanks for the screenshot!

I tried to reproduce this with a multisite installation but had no luck. Your theme or another plugin must be conflicting with our code. See the functions called here on line 111: https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/wp-rss-retriever/trunk/inc/welcome-screen.php#L111

We use remove_submenu_page to remove both of those links. These pages are hidden pages that should only be accessible with the “Get Started” link under Plugins.

I can only recommend redownloading this plugin or removing other plugins/theme to see which one is conflicting.

@wasanajones Please remove and redownload the current version of the plugin. I added a priority parameter to the remove_menus hook. Hopefully this removes those links for you. Let me know if it works!

thanks, but that didn’t do it

I tried simply overwriting files, didn’t change anything
    then deactivated, deleted, reinstalled, reactivated
    same…

I looked at the plugin files and it didn’t look like the php files were edited.

I just now read the longer reply, I had only read the last one from my email

just so you know, when the plugin is activated the plugin takes over the dashboard and displays your welcome page — while this is done by some other plugins it really is irritating in my opinion – I’m usually activating more than one plugin at a time – this is a little bit more than only having them accessed through the get started link, and maybe why they are imposing themselves on the dashboard menu

you have a great plugin, just hope I can get it a little less obtrusively

    thanks
