I am having difficulty with one aspect of using Gravity Forms.
This problem does not occur in TwentyTwenty but does in Chaplin.

It seems to me the form display in Chaplin is displaying site-content whereas TwentyTwenty is displaying entry-content. Therefore the “full width” of the fields is not calculating the divisional increments properly. I would prefer to use Chaplin.

I can layout the form completely as I like in Gravity but when embedded on a page the theme does not support the field spacing. The spacing worked perfectly in alignment with my previous FLARE theme from years ago. However, the forms would not submit if there were a conditional field, a calendar in the date field, more than a one page form, and a couple of other idiosyncrasies. Thus the reason for looking for a new theme and choosing yours.

Examples: gf_right_half in one field and gf_left_half does not evenly split the fields. The first field will load properly but the calculation for the second half seems to exceed the 50% mark and forces the field to the next line.

gf_left_third gf_middle_third gf_right_third does not produce three equal field widths and pushes the last field to the next line.

gf_first_quarter gf_second_quarter gf_third_quarter gf_fourth_quarter does not produce four equal fields.

Alignment is to the left but the last field on the line never makes the right side boundary of the page. I can mix and match a ½ command with a ¼ command. A ½ with a ¼ command but it seems as if the commands total more than 75% the theme forces the last filed to the next line.

I have tried using the AJAX toggle and the offset to no avail. Not really sure if I am seeing any effects of the options but I might not know what I am looking for.

Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated and most welcomed.

Thank You very much for your work and anticipated help with my particular problem.

    Hi @aschaller,

Can you post a link to a page where the problem occurs?

    Thank You for responding!

    https://pbfe.com/transfer-agreement-form/

In this form Business Name, Business Phone, and Business Website are set to:
gf_left_third , gf_middle_third . and gf_right_third . All three fields should be on the same line.

In this form Checking Date 1, Checking Date 2, Checking Date 3, Checking Date 4 should appear on one line. They are set to:
    gf_first_quarter , gf_second_quarter_ gf_third_quarter , gf_fourth_quarter .

I can mix and match 1/3, 1/3, & 1/4 to produce a “full width” line without it breaking and sending the last field to the next line.

    Very much appreciate your help!!!

    Hi @aschaller,

It turns out that for no good reason whatsoever, the last couple of versions of Chaplin have included a righthand margin as part of the base styles for list items. I’ve fixed that in version 2.5.6, which should be live within the hour and should fix the issue.

Gravity Forms probably made the (entirely reasonable) assumption that no sane theme developer would put a righthand margin on their list items.

Let me know if the update fixes the issue.

    Outstanding!
    Great Job!

Thank you so very much! As a novice I was completely frustrated with myself thinking I was never going to get the hang of perfecting my site. So happy you were able to give me part of my sanity back.

    Very much appreciated.

I am interested in the freelance part of your skills as I have a custom plugin that was written for me years ago that could probably use some updating.

On behalf of all of us benefiting from your abilities and generosity to share…

    THANK YOU!
