Gravatar question, help needed…

    Theme: TwentyTen
    Website: livelovepasta

    Question: I have tried to research this but can’t come up with a definitive answer. We are starting to get comments on our blog now and I am noticing it is very plain with just the standard avatar image, even if I reply. What is the best way either by plug-in or code input to allow users to have their own avatar. And how do I get my own, do I have to creat an acct with Gravatar? I saw in the WP Support section regarding gravatars that all versions 2.5 to current already have built-in support if I read it correctly, so does that mean nothing needs to be done and if a user has a gravatar it will just automatically post with one, or is their a setting in the dashboard I need to select.

    I found this:

    “Gravatars can easily be used within WordPress with the Gravatar WordPress Plugin or added manually in the index.php, comments.php and comments-popup.php template files.”

    But I guess I am just not clear on which is the better option. Also, like I said above it states “As of WordPress 2.5, Gravatars are built-in and require no additional Plugins for basic usage and management.”

    Do I have to still code the get_gravatar for the theme TwentyTen?

    No… I don’t have to code it? Then…

    1.) How do I get an avatar for when I reply to someone’s comment? Do I just need to create an account with Gravatar?
    2.) Am I just assuming all the commenters don’t have Gravatar’s then since all their comments just have the standard image for their avatar?

    1. Yes – create an account with Gravatar using the same email address that you use on your blog.

    2. Correct.
