# got stuck installing jetpack

 * now I can’t install jetpack – says the directory already exists.
    I have this
   message on top of my dashboard: An automated WordPress update has failed to complete–
   please attempt the update again now. But no available updates show in the updates.
 * Help!

 * Do you see Jetpack in your dashboard under Plugins? If so, try deleting and then
   installing again.
 * Alternately, you may want to FTP to your site and browse to the plugins directory
   and delete the jetpack folder there.

 * Ok did that (Erased from the ftp), but now still have this message stuck on my
   dashboard: “An automated WordPress update has failed to complete – please attempt
   the update again now.” which does nothing… it’s annoying

 * As detailed on [here on the Dashboard Updates Screen doc](http://codex.wordpress.org/Dashboard_Updates_Screen),
   you will need to delete the **.maintenance** file found in the WordPress root/
   base folder. Then you can attempt the update again and you should be able to 
   install Jetpack after that.
