    Be careful about using this plugin if you use shared hosting with someone such as bluehost or hostgator, or other shared hosting providers who have rules about CPU usage. This plugin is very heavy on cpu usage, and it lead to my hosting account being suspended until I disabled the plugin. It lead to all of my websites being offline for nearly 24 hours, not great!

    Sorry to hear this happened to you. Wordfence runs fine with any single WordPress install on shared hosting. We test on HostGator and Bluehost before every release.

    If you are close to reaching your limits due to running several installations of WordPress on the same hosting account or you are using a very large amount of plugins for example, it is possible that Wordfence becomes the “last straw”. We have a few tips here that may help.
