  • Right so basically I have two websites! I first created a website on wix called … but then wanted to transfer this site over to wordpress

So i created a wordpress website called
I have created a website I am happy with and am now I trying to remove the wix website and just have the website…
I was playing around and I wanted to see what happened if i went onto the settings on the dashboard and changed the url there to
Although now I have a big problem (even though I have changed this now) the homepage or when i press view my site for some reason links to my wix site … see and you will see it links to the wix website for some unknown reason. Although this does not happen on any other electron device.

I also backdated the homepage to 16 hours ago. Although this didn’t work and now I don’t have any of my recently created stuff… is there any way I can go forward with the backdating and get my work I created recently rather than 16 hours ago.

I hope this makes sense and someone can help! I really just want the website to be how it was before I made the mistake with the url!

    please ask me any questions!!!

  • Hello @nissyadventure,

Your WordPress install is not done through Wix, is that correct?

If that is the case, and you have both WP and Wix pointing at the same domain, that would be the primary issue. If you haven’t already, I would reach out to Wix support and see if they can get your website with them removed or canceled if your having troubles with that.

Once that is completed, it could take several minutes to hours to have the new website propagated correctly. You could try reaching the website from incognito browsers, or through a different PC to see if it’s gone through. Alternatively, you can clear your browsers cache to see if that’ll update properly.

Hope this is a step in the right direction!

The current DNS Registrar for the domain is Wix.

You need to be able to contact your DNS Registrar and update the Nameservers to the one that your new web host would provide to you. IF you bought the domain from WIX, you may have to do a domain transfer from them (to a new registrar or your web host may provide such services). Start by contacting both WIX and your new web host about this.

You then will need to wait for DNS to propogate which can take a day or two, although often is much quicker these days.

You should also clear your browser cache on each device and also flush DNS.
