Googlebot for example is still logged, even in client mode!

    Browsercap is enabled.

Adding a filter on the Googlebot IPs does not work as it filters all incoming traffic!

Please get this fixed as the bot visits are clogging up the access logs.

    Thanks,

    Didier.

    Hi there,

this might be because the Browscap file is out of date (on our end). I will crunch the new data and hopefully be able to release an update in the next few days!

    Take care,
    Jason

    Hi @swissspaceboy,

could you please test the new version that was just released and see if that solves your issue? If your hosting provider supports PHP 7.x, please install the new Browscap data file and let me know.

    Best,
    Jason

    Hi Jason,

Thanks for the update. I will install it now on one of my sites, and see how it behaves.

I have php 7.2 running so I will also re-install the browsercap data file.

    I keep you updated.

    – Upgrade went fine on my 4.9.9 WP + php 7.2 : no website crash for me 🙂
    – Browsercap file uninstalled and re-installed.
    – googlebot as useragent dropped from filters.

    Let’s wait and see.

I found a possible glitch related to how Google Bot is presenting itself as a “mobile” device. A fix has been added to the next update, which should be released in a couple of weeks. It’s already available on Github, if you want to test it in advance:

I confirm. I see not the regular googlebot anymore, except the mobile device.

I have production sites, so I cannot install the beta version of the latest plugin code. And on my staging sites, Google visits are not allowed ..lol

I will wait for the official update.

    Thanks Jason for your support.
