 * This plug in needs to be updated. It worked great until the upgrade 3.1 Google
   webmaster errors for the entire site. Decided to get rid of it …create new site
   map …no more plug ins

 * shirley2011, I totally agree it needs to be updated but people will still be
   using WordPress 3.0.5 and can use this plugin.
 * My advice to all WP users when upgrading is to always check to make sure your
   plugins are compatible with the version of WordPress you are about to upgrade
   to before running the WordPress update as you are likely to run into this kind
   of problem quite often when a new version of WordPress is released.
 * Such forum post titles as “DO NOT USE” don’t really serve other users or motivate
   the developers who work hard on these plugins but may just not have had enough
   time with their day-jobs, families and all to update the plugins as soon as a
   new WordPress is released.
 * Thanks.

    No offense
   to you or the developer…my apologies….I do understand that the developers who
   as you stated..
 * **“_work hard on these plugins but may just not have had enough time with their
   day-jobs, families and all to update the plugins as soon as a new WordPress is
   released”..

   _
 * Is a valid point.
 * However when that same developer asks for a donation for their plug in which
   I have done for this one and for several others…I feel this and any other developer
   is obligated to be due diligent about maintaining their plug ins.
 * Even a simple …”UPDATE COMING SOON” is better than nothing at all.
 * Thanks…have a good weekend.

 * Hi shirley2011. Thanks. I do understand it can get quite frustrating waiting
   for upgrades and when website break after updating. I really want to upgrade
   to 3.1 but I can’t yet because many of my plugins are still only compatible with
   3.0.5.
 * To be fair on this plugin’s author, WP 3.1 has only just recently released and
   it’s a major release with quite a few changes.
 * My experience with several content management systems, is that there is always
   a gap of a few weeks after a major release until compatibility updates to even
   some of the major plugins. The plugins I am using are gradually slowly being
   updated to work the 3.1 release, but still about fifty percent of them are only
   3.0.5 compatible (many of the plugins I’ve wanted to use in the past are still
   not even 3.0.5 compatible yet which is kind of disappointing!) It’s not really
   unusual and a mostly accepted part of using free, open source content management
   systems. This plugin is not anywhere near being considered abandoned yet by any
   standards.
 * The total sum of all donation received for these kinds of projects usually only
   cover a tiny fraction of work _already_ done so it can’t be used to demand anything
   unless the donation covered a developers wage of $40-$60 an hour for several
   hours (maybe days) of work. Most of the time the work is done for the love of
   coding/contributing, not the money received through donations.
 * I agree that a simple “UPDATE COMING SOON” would be nice, but I think it’s also
   valid to say that a simple “Will this plugin be 3.1 compatible soon?” post would
   be nice, too, especially before posting a “DO NOT USE” posting in a public forum.
   Politeness goes both ways, would you agree? and it might even get a response
   from the developer about how long it will take to release an update.
 * Anyway, please give it another couple of weeks before giving up hope of an upgrade.
 * Best wishes.

 * Instead of giving away plug-ins that are then not maintained at some point in
   time, I think we would all be better off just paying developers for their work.
   A Donate button is all nice, but who donates?
 * How frustrating is it to work on something day in day out and only meet greedy
   downloaders? I’ll tell you: VERY frustrating.
 * I think Arne, the developer of this plugin should be capable to move forward
   faster and the only way that can be achieved is by paying him a decent fee for
   his work, not a voluntary gift every now and then!

 * Point well taken…I appreciate your opinion and thoughts… In a moment of pure
   frustration I wrote that headline. Sometimes my emotions get the best of me!
 * Anyway thanks again for your thoughts.

 * I think the Yoast SEO plugin is a good alternative. I think XML plugin support
   is getting dropped in the WP community due to sitemaps being included in SEO
   plugin packages.
