What error is google giving you? Did you put in the FULL url correctly?

I am experiencing the same issue using Better WordPress Google XML Sitemaps. The error I get is a red x denoting line 2 with the following:

    Sitemap is HTML
Your Sitemap appears to be an HTML page. Please use a supported sitemap format instead.

Here is the URL I submitted:

    http://outdoorblogger.com/sitemapindex.xml

It’s been tough finding a sitemap plugin that will work with WP multisite thus far. Thank you for the suggestions.

I use the one that come’s with Yoast’s plugin, WordPress SEO, and have had no issues.

My browser is treating the page as HTML as well, though. Interesting.

I’ve tried Yoast’s but I experience similar issues in addition to another dilemma in that it turns off the category functionality that comes with the native Genesis SEO options. With Genesis SEO I can go in and turn on and display the category naming and description options when editing categories which is supposed to bump up SEO (although I’m not sure how much it actually helps). Right now I’d use either if I could get one to work. Ugh…

I wonder if it’s something to do with how your server and/or theme parses the xml. Both plugins work fine on my sites.
