    Hi,

I have the exact same problem, i just think it’s an error of the Google XML Sitemaps plugin.

It seems that the HTML version of the sitemap as a “noindex” tag but is paradoxally included in the XML sitemap for indexing.

But i don’t know how to solve the problem.

Just got the warning from Google, with the cryptic and threatening “may be negatively affected in Google Search results” message.

    Should I be worried?

I got the same warning from Google Search Console Beta, in search of what wrong I did I found wordpress threat and here also no reasonaly answer yet to present, please inform back what should we do?

It says sitemap.html marked as noindex and I removed all the noindex command from robot.txt this was my robot.txt
    User-agent: *
    Disallow: /cgi-bin/
    Disallow: /wp-admin/
    Disallow: /linkout/
    Disallow: /recommended/
    Disallow: /comments/feed/
    Disallow: /trackback/
    Disallow: /index.php
    Disallow: /xmlrpc.php
    User-agent: NinjaBot
    Allow: /

    User-agent: Adsbot-Google
    Allow: /
    User-agent: Googlebot-Mobile
    Allow: /
    Sitemap: https://site.com/sitemap.xml

    Now changed to:

    User-agent: *
    Disallow:
    Sitemap: https://site.com/sitemap.xml

and marked reindex manually from fetch as google

    Gadgetsay,

What you’ve done to your robots.txt is not a good idea. The NOINDEX is added to the system that adds the sitemap.html page, nothing to do with the robots.txt file. I strongly suggest that you restore the default robots.txt content.

Can you suggest me what will be the default robot.txt, right now you can see what I currently have
    https://gadgetsay.com/robots.txt

    User-agent: *
    Disallow:
    Sitemap: https://gadgetsay.com/sitemap.xml

I think you should at least have this one:

    Disallow: /wp-admin/

The problem is without such Google and other search engines could end up indexing some weird pages that should not be indexed. Whatever other directory that should not be indexed that you have, like the /cgi-bin/ folder, should be included too.

    Okey I Changed to this

    User-agent: *
    Disallow: /wp-admin/

I’m having the same issue with sitemap.html is marked no-index.

    To owner of https://example.com/,

Search Console has identified that your site is affected by 1 new Index coverage related issue. This means that Index coverage may be negatively affected in Google Search results. We encourage you to fix this issue.

    New issue found:
    Submitted URL marked ‘noindex’

    The same problem.

    Trying to solve…

Hope we will find the solution!

I got the same error even though that page does not exist on my site.

    @alanp57

The page “exists”, it’s not listed in the “All Pages” dashboard, though. It’s generated dynamically by the Google XML Sitemap plugin.

well , all my sites using Google XML sitemap plugin and got this kind problem , well i have check my robots.txt and testing ok. then i check for noindex meta , and not found. running well !

as we can see that the problem is Index coverage > Submitted URL marked ‘noindex’

Submitted URL marked ‘noindex’ in sitemap.xml , so the problem is why noindex in my sitemap.xml which is my robots.txt and my “index, follow” is running well ?

I just switched to the free plugin Yoast SEO which includes building a sitemap. I used to get errors with the sitemap but it looks clean now. Recommend switching.

Same here. When will this bug be corrected?

Could author of plugin please take a look on this problem?
