Support » Fixing WordPress » Google shows non existing results from my page

  • When i search google images for keywords (for example like this):
    orkana.no/forfatter/turid-hovin
    or like this
    orkana forfatter turid hovin

in result i get two totally different person images showing from my webpage both called the same “turid-hovin”.

I have checked the “Attachment Details” descriptions and Alt text in Media Library and other problems that could have made this fault, but didnt found nothing wrong in there.

Can please someone reply at least if it is a WordPress or Google problem. And if WordPress please target in what direction should i “go” to solve this!?

    Hey @andrejsvolkovs!

Great question! It seems that this issue is related to how Google indexes your images, right? Take a look at Google Search Console for further help šŸ™‚ https://support.google.com/webmasters/?hl=en#topic=9128571

    Warm regards!

what is it that you want to happen? You want to enter those search words to google and only get back one image result?

    Yes Benjamin!

oh I see. Unfortunately google is the boss of it’s own website and has control over the search algorithms it uses to find results. These algorithms can be affected somewhat by people on the outside with things like “Search Console” but the fundamental workings of the algorithm cannot be changed.
One of the foundational parts of that algorithm is that results find pages/images/whatever you searched for that are related to what you searched for. If you tell google to find images on a page it will return any images that are that image or images related to it which seems to be the problem you are having. I think your best bet is to be very specific with “Google Console” about which images are what so that people searching Google Images will know which result is which and which item is what they are looking for.

Thanks Benjamin and M Media. Will dive in to “Search Console” and see what i can do there.
