• Hey,

I am using the newest version of Yoast and now am beginning to see my site how up on Google searches. I had a question… how do I control what Google displays when it shows my domain? In other words Google lists my domain, but uses one of my posts as a discription for my site rather than how I want to describe my site. Can I edit the sitemap and still have yoast work as I would like google to also display some of my main pages under the domain listing much like MSN shows up when you searhc for them. Thansk, Todd

  • Todd,

On the WP Dashboard, click “SEO” and then “Start Tour” button for tips on this plugin.

For the home page, click “SEO” then “Titles & Metas” then “Home”. Whether your home page is a Page or Post depends on your site design, but for each Page or Post you should fill in the Yoast description on the Edit screen.

And if you’re using Yoast’s XML Sitemaps, you don’t edit the sitemap directly, you let the plugin create the sitemap from the page and post descriptions.

However, we can’t CONTROL what Google shows, we can only try to give hints to Google and see what it decides to show.
