    Hi

I have noticed that some search results in Google are showing the title (twice) plus my username (as I was the site developer I’m guessing this is me as author of the page) as the snippet. Examples here:

Join online | British Menopause Society
    https://thebms.org.uk/join-us/join-online/
Join online. Join online Mariette-JB 2016-07-19T14:39:50+00:00 …. Join us · Join online · whc logo · Women’s Health Concern Registered Charity No. 279651.

Forthcoming meetings | British Menopause Society
    https://thebms.org.uk/meetings/forthcoming-meetings/
    20+ items – Forthcoming meetings. Forthcoming meetings Mariette-JB …

Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this is happening?

    many thanks

The two examples you provided do not output a meta description. Therefore, Google creates one for the pages.

If you have not provided a description for the pages, please write one or go into the SEO -> Titles & Metas menu and set up a template.

If you have written one or setup a template, please check your theme’s header.php file for a call to wp_head() which we use to output the description.

I see, thanks for the explanation. I’m a bit confused though because I thought if you didn’t provide a description then Yoast used the first words of content on that page? It seems to have worked like that for all the other pages. If you do a search on Google for thebms you will see what I mean.
